Recovery in Morocco: How Many Days Should You Plan For, by Procedure?

"How long am I away for?" It's often the most practical question when organising a procedure abroad — to book time off, arrange someone to come with you, or reserve the return flight. The answer depends on the procedure and on your healing. Here are indicative recovery times by procedure to plan your recovery in Morocco with confidence. Golden rule: the return date is always confirmed by the surgeon.

3-5 d
hair transplant or varicose vein treatment
5-7 d
lighter cosmetic surgery
10-14 d
heavier surgery (tummy tuck, facelift)
×2
trips sometimes needed (implants, IVF)

🗓️ Length of stay at a glance

This table gives planning ranges. They are indicative benchmarks — the real duration is set by your surgeon based on your situation:

ProcedureIndicative stay in Morocco
Hair transplant (FUE)3 to 5 days
Varicose vein treatment (laser, sclerotherapy)3 to 5 days
Breast augmentation5 to 7 days
Targeted liposuction5 to 7 days
Rhinoplasty7 to 10 days
Tummy tuck / facelift10 to 14 days
Eye surgery (myopia, cataract)2 to 4 days
Dental implantsOften 2 trips
IVF / ARTDepends on the protocol (1 to 2 stages)

💠 Cosmetic surgery

Duration depends mostly on how extensive the procedure is and on suture removal. For a breast augmentation or targeted liposuction, plan for about 5 to 7 days. For a rhinoplasty, 7 to 10 days, allowing for splint removal. For a tummy tuck or facelift, allow 10 to 14 days, with a check-up before flying. Explore our plastic & reconstructive surgery service.

💈 Hair transplant

The FUE transplant is usually completed in a single day. A first wash and a check-up follow over the next days, before the green light to travel home. A stay of 3 to 5 days is usually enough. Final results, however, appear over several months — so the length of stay depends not on the final result but on the first post-transplant care.

🦵 Varicose veins

Modern techniques (endovenous laser, radiofrequency, foam sclerotherapy) are minimally invasive and done as day cases: normal activities often resume within 24 to 48 hours. A stay of 3 to 5 days covers the treatment, a check-up and the initial wearing of compression stockings. See our article on the treatment of varicose veins in Morocco.

🦷 Dental work

It all depends on the treatment. A whitening or veneers can be done in a few days. Dental implants, on the other hand, often happen in two stages: placement, then the crown after several months of bone healing (see below). See our dental care service.

🔁 Procedures that need two trips

Some treatments can't be completed in a single visit — and that's perfectly normal:

1
Dental implants
A first trip to place the implant, then a return several months later, once the bone has healed (osseointegration), to fit the final crown.
2
IVF / ART
Depending on the protocol, stimulation, egg retrieval and transfer can be arranged in a single stage or spread out, with coordinated remote follow-up between trips.

✈️ When can you fly again?

Flying too soon is not trivial: after some surgeries, prolonged immobility raises the risk of blood clots, and altitude can worsen swelling. The surgeon therefore sets a minimum delay before flying, specific to each procedure.

⚠️ Good to know

Never book a tight return flight just "to save money". Leave a margin: it's the medical team, not the calendar, that decides when you leave. Evitalink always sets tickets around the surgeon's recommendation.

❓ Frequently asked questions

How many days after a hair transplant?
Usually 3 to 5 days: the transplant is done in a day, followed by a first wash and a check-up before the return, confirmed by the surgeon.
How long after cosmetic surgery?
About 5 to 7 days for a lighter procedure, 10 to 14 days for heavier surgery (tummy tuck, facelift), allowing for suture removal and a check-up.
Is the duration the same for everyone?
No. It varies with the procedure, your health and your healing. The return date is always confirmed by the medical team.
Do some treatments need two trips?
Yes, notably dental implants (placement then crown after healing) and sometimes IVF, depending on the protocol.
Can you fly straight after an operation?
Not immediately: flying is discouraged for a few days after some procedures. The surgeon sets the delay, and Evitalink books tickets around it.
